Lincoln, NE – Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead left Saturday's game against Southern Miss with an apparent left knee injury.
The senior left the contest following a nine-yard run in the second quarter. He got up slowly and gingerly before limping to the sidelines.
Burkhead had three carries for 68 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown run in the opening frame. He ran for 1,357 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.
He is not expected to return.
