San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Morrow tossed seven strong innings, while Alexi Amarista homered as San Diego beat Los Angeles, 3-1, in Sunday's series finale.

Morrow (1-0) surrendered a run on five hits and a walk while striking out four to earn his first win in the National League. Craig Kimbrel had a quiet ninth en route to his sixth save.

"In these games, against division rivals, the Dodgers, a lot of it is momentum," Padres manager Bud Black said. "A lot of that is from what happens offensively. Obviously Brandon did his part to keep the momentum on our side."

Derek Norris finished with a solo shot among his two hits and drove in the other two runs for the Padres, who avoided a sweep and put an end to a four- game losing streak.

Alex Guerrero picked up two hits including a home run for the Dodgers, who have lost four of their last six.

Scott Baker (0-1) gave up three runs on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

"I was a little jumpy at first but I felt like I settled down," Baker said. "There were a couple of pitches that I would like to have back. I didn't mind the Amarista home run but a couple of two-strike pitches that I think I could have executed better."

Amarista's third-inning solo shot gave the hosts a lead.

Matt Kemp walked to begin the San Diego fourth, stole second, moved to third on a groundout and scored when Norris doubled.

Guerrero got one back for the Dodgers with a leadoff shot in the fifth, but Morrow stymied LA's offense from there.

Norris added the insurance run on a homer to left with one away in the home seventh.

Joaquin Benoit tossed a 1-2-3 eighth and Kimbrel struck out two in the final scoreless frame.

Game Notes

Morrow's last win came with the Blue Jays, on Apr. 9, 2014 ... Prior to the contest, the Dodgers placed All-Star outfielder Yasiel Puig and right-handed reliever Joel Peralta on the 15-day disabled list, added right- handed pitchers Scott Baker and Carlos Frias to the roster, while reliever Brandon League was transferred from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL to make room for Baker on the 40-man roster.
