Fontvieille, Monaco (SportsNetwork.com) - AS Monaco's title hopes took a major hit on Sunday as the principality club was held to a 1-1 draw by Lille at the Stade Louis II.

Monaco entered the match trailing league leaders Paris Saint-Germain by 11 points after Les Parisiens earned a 1-0 victory over Lorient on Friday, but got off to flying start in front of the home crowd as Mounir Obaddi opened the scoring for the hosts after just four minutes.

But the home side couldn't hold the lead as Lille battled back to equalize in the 38th minute on the strength of Divock Origi goal.

Monaco kept the better of possession throughout the 90 minutes, but couldn't do much with it as the club managed just two attempts on target to Lille's four.

The result sees Monaco remain 10 points behind PSG with eight matches to play in the league campaign, while Lille earns a point on the road to improve to 54 points and remain comfortable in a Champions League place.

Also in Ligue 1 on Sunday, Mevlut Erding scored a second-half brace as St. Etienne claimed a 3-1 result over Sochaux at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

After a scoreless first half, the hosts broke the deadlock just one minute into the second half when Erding fired one home. St Etienne then made it a two-goal margin five minutes later through Franck Tabanou.

Sochaux pulled one back in the 66th minute, but their momentum was halted nine minutes from time when Cedric Bakambu was shown a straight red card. Erding completed his double in the 89th minute.

Bafetimbi Gomis's 46th-minute tally held up as the winner at the Stade du Roudourou as Lyon claimed a 1-0 win over Guingamp.
