BETHLEHEM, Pa. – C.J. McCollum scored 29 points and had 14 rebounds, and Lehigh defeated Holy Cross 79-75 in overtime Saturday.
Lehigh started the overtime period with a 7-0 run and never trailed. Holy Cross cut the lead to 77-75 with 49 seconds remaining on a 3-pointer by Devin Brown, but a basket by Jordan Hamilton with 23 seconds left sealed it for Lehigh. Hamilton hit two free throws with 46 seconds to go in regulation to force overtime.
McCollum has scored at least 23 points in seven straight games. Gabe Knutson added 22 points for Lehigh (12-10, 3-4 Patriot League), which has won three in a row in the series.
Lehigh scored 22 points off 18 Holy Cross turnovers and outrebounded the Crusaders 42-34.
Brown led Holy Cross (4-17, 3-4) with 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. Mike Cavataio added 13 points for the Crusaders, who have lost three consecutive games.
