PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Tucker Halpern had 26 points and 12 rebounds and Peter Sullivan scored 22 points as Brown defeated Quinnipiac 87-78 on Monday in a nonconference game.
Halpern scored five points during a 15-1 second-half run by the Bears (7-8) that turned a 54-51 deficit into a 66-55 lead with 7:29 remaining.
Brown shot 57.1 percent (16 of 28) in the second half and led by as many as 16 points, 82-66, after a first half in which neither team led by more than four.
The Bobcats (12-5) came in leading the nation in rebounds per game with 43.8 but were outrebounded 35-33 by the Bears.
Brown also had an edge at the free-throw line, making 26 of 32 — including 12 of 12 by Sullivan — to Quinnipiac's 17 of 24.
Garrett Leffelman added 16 points for Brown and Sean McGonagill had eight assists.
James Johnson led Quinnipiac with 19 points, Deontay Twyman had 14 and Jamee Jackson 13.
