Andrew Gonzalez scored a career-high 33 points to equal his best effort this season, and Houston Baptist defeated Texas-Pan American 81-71 to snap a 10-game losing streak on Saturday night.

Gonzalez, a senior guard who was leading the Great West Conference in scoring at 20.9 points per game, made 9 of 18 shots, including six 3-pointers, for the Huskies (2-16, 1-2), who earned their only other victory of the season on Dec. 4, an 88-81 decision over Texas State.

Brandon Provost scored a career-best 22 points and Jared Maree added 12 points for the Broncs (3-17, 0-3), who dropped their 11th game in a row. Texas-Pan American's last victory was a 101-94 decision over Victoria on Dec. 5.

Shawn Echols added 13 points and Michael Moss 12 for the Huskies.

Houston Baptist raced out to a 48-29 lead by halftime, but Texas-Pan American pulled within 5, 74-69, on a driving layup by Matt Mierzycki with two minutes remaining. But Ben Daniels' 3-pointer for Houston Baptist with 1:15 remaining made it 77-69 and closed out the Broncs.
