Giants place OF Torres on DL
San Francisco, CA – The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Andres Torres on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a strained left Achilles tendon.
Torres sustained the injury during Wednesday's 12-1 loss at the hands of the Boston Red Sox.
The 35-year-old veteran is batting .250 with two home runs and 21 RBI through 103 games with the Giants.
San Francisco also optioned pitcher Michael Kickham to Triple-A Fresno, while recalling infielder Nick Noonan and outfielder Francisco Peguero from Fresno.
Kickham made his major league debut on May 28 and pitched to an 0-3 record with a 10.72 earned run average over six games, including three starts.
Noonan has appeared in 52 games with San Francisco this season, compiling a .213 average with two doubles and five RBI.
Peguero has recorded three hits in 16 at-bats over six games with the Giants this season.
