Montreal, QC – American Mardy Fish advanced to the final of set victory Saturday over Serbian Janko Tipsarevic
The sixth-seeded Fish needed just over 76 minutes to beat Tipsarevic 6-3, 6-4 at the ATP Masters and U.S. Open Series event.
He will face the winner of Saturday's other semifinal between world No. 1 Novak Djokovic of Serbia and 13th-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in the final on Sunday.
The champion this week will earn $450,000 and the runner-up $224,000.
Tipsarevic pocketed $114,825 as a semifinalist, unable to overcome six Fish aces.
Fish, after making his 20th career singles final, will be seeking his second win of the season after successfully defending his title in Atlanta last month. He will be chasing his seventh career win.
Djokovic, of course, is 53-1 in his last 54 matches -- including 51-1 this season -- and is a perfect 26-0 on hardcourts. He has already captured eight titles this season, including the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
Tsonga upset Roger Federer to reach the quarterfinals and is after his sixth career win. He hasn't titled since 2009.
