Chris Eversley scored 25 points and Cal Poly withstood a late comeback attempt by Hawaii for a 64-61 victory on Saturday night.

Reese Morgan added 10 points for the Mustangs (15-12, 10-6 Big West), who denied Hawaii two potential game-tying 3-pointers in the final seconds.

Isaac Fotu had 17 points, Vander Joaquim 15 points and 10 rebounds and Hauns Brereton 13 points for the Rainbow Warriors (17-12, 10-7), who trailed by 13 points with just under five minutes remaining.

Two 3-pointers by Jace Tavita and another by Brandon Jawato helped Hawaii get within 64-61. The Warriors had two possessions to tie, but Brereton's 3-pointer with 12 seconds to play rimmed out, and — after Cal Poly twice missed the first attempt of a one-and-one — Jawato dribbled in search of an open shot but did not get a 3-point attempt off before the buzzer sounded.

The Mustangs led 27-25 at halftime and shot 66.7 percent (16 for 24) from the floor in the second half.

Eversley made 11 of his 18 shots for the game.
