GLASGOW, Scotland – American midfielder Maurice Edu returned from a two-month injury layoff, entering as a second-half substitute as Glasgow Rangers beat Kilmarnock 3-0 Monday night and advanced to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
Edu's left knee, which needed surgery in 2009, was injured Nov. 10 by a lunging tackle from Hibernian's John Rankin. Edu entered in the 67th minute Monday in place of Jamie Ness.
Lee McCulloch scored for the hosts in the 20th minute, Kyle Lafferty doubled the lead in the 37th and Steven Whittaker converted a penalty kick in the 71st after Jamie Hamill fouled Vladimir Weiss.

ALICANTE, Spain (AP) — Hercules routed Atletico Madrid 4-1 in La Liga behind first-half goals from Jorge "Tote" Lopez, Nelson Valdez, Olivier Thombert and David Trezeguet.
Jose Antonio Reyes scored with one minute left for Atletico, which may have been looking ahead to Thursday's Copa del Rey quarterfinal first leg against Real Madrid.
Atletico (8-7-3) is sixth with 27 points, 22 behind league-leading Barcelona. Hercules (6-8-4) moved up to 11th with 22 points.
