EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The New York Giants received some good news from doctors regarding injuries to wide receiver Victor Cruz and center David Baas.
Coach Tom Coughlin said Monday that Cruz only bruised his left heel in the first quarter of New York's 20-12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The coach doesn't know when his dynamic playmaker will return to practice but the injury does not seem serious.
Baas is more of a concern. He sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee and his status will be gauged on a weekly basis. An MCL sprain usually takes up to six weeks to heal, so his availability for the season opener at Dallas Sept. 8 is uncertain.
Jim Cordle replaced Baas, but Coughlin is exploring all options for his line.
