Janet Evans, a four-time Gold medal winner at the Olympics, saw her bid for a fourth Summer Games appearance squashed Saturday.

The 40-year-old finished eighth in her heat of the 800-meter freestyle at the U.S. Olympic trials.

Evans ended the race in 9 minutes, 1.59 seconds.

Her first Olympics came in 1988 in Seoul, where she won three gold medals. Four years later, she captured a gold and silver in Barcelona. Her last Olympics came in Atlanta in 1996.
