Celtic completes Boerrigter signing

Glasgow, Scotland – Celtic announced the signing of Ajax winger Derk Boerrigter on Wednesday to add to manager Neil Lennon's attacking options.

Boerrigter has spent the past two seasons in Amsterdam with Ajax, helping the team win back-to-back Eredivisie titles, while he has also spent time with Dutch sides RKC Waalwijk and Zwolle.

"He is the type of player we have been looking for, for a while," said Lennon. "He is a very fast, direct, left-footed player who has goals in him with his left and right foot. He is also very powerful. He has good experience and he has played at a high level for the last two or three years."

The 26-year-old scored five goals in 29 league appearances for Ajax last season and he joins the defending Scottish champions on a four-year contract.

Celtic begins its league campaign on Saturday at home against Ross County.
