On the same day that Rangers signed American midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, the club added another United States international on Wednesday with defender Carlos Bocanegra joining the club.

The 32-year-old Bocanegra heads to Glasgow on a three-year contract after spending the past few seasons in France with Rennes and St Etienne.

Bocanegra started 34 Ligue 1 matches for St Etienne last season and he has been capped over 90 times by the U.S.

He also becomes the third American player on Rangers, joining Bedoya and midfielder Maurice Edu.
