Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim signed closer Huston Street to a two-year contract extension with a club option for 2018 on Wednesday.
Terms were not disclosed, but the Los Angeles Times reported that Street was guaranteed $18 million with the new deal.
Street, 31, was acquired by the Angels in 2014 to bolster their bullpen in their race to win the AL West. With the Angels, Street has recorded 28 saves in 32 opportunities and pitched to a 2.25 ERA.
In his 11-year career with the Athletics, Rockies, Padres and Angels, Street has 286 saves and reached the All-Star Game twice. The 2005 AL Rookie of the Year leads the majors in save percentage over the last five seasons at 91.9 percent (137 of 149).
