MSNBC "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough predicted on Wednesday that Ben Carson will stay in the race for the Republican presidential nomination all the way to the convention, despite his fading poll numbers, and accused Carson of running simply to boost his national profile and secure a lucrative TV gig.
A new Quinnipiac poll showed that Carson, once tied for first place nationally, has slipped into third place, dropping seven points from last month.
Scarborough, citing a recent news story that said GOP leadership in Washington is "wary" of Trump winning the nomination, said he didn't see support for Trump eroding but that he didn't anticipate any of his rivals dropping out of the race either.
"Under normal circumstances people are smart and drop out of the race," Scarborough said. "[Marco] Rubio will never drop out of the race. [Ted] Cruz will never drop out of the race."
