The White House says President Obama doesn't plan to attend a pair of Martha's Vineyard fundraisers Thursday night despite the fact he's on the small island for the first night of 10-day his family vacation.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., is headlining the fundraisers for the Obama Victory Fund. Tickets to the fundraisers range in price from $100 to $1000.
Some have criticized President Obama for vacationing on the exclusive island while the nation's economy continues to struggle, but the White House says the president will work with his economic staff throughout his time at Martha's Vineyard and will refine the economic policy he plans to announce after Labor Day. The political fallout from attending a fundraiser while on vacation would likely loom large.
The Obama family will remain on Martha's Vineyard until August 27.
