Jeb Bush's presidential campaign is leveraging the former governor's hawkish foreign policy ideas to help him connect with voters. The campaign released a new ad on Thursday featuring Medal of Honor recipients explaining why they support Bush.

"This is no reality show, this is serious business," said James Livingston, a retired U.S. Marine Corps major general and medal of honor recipient, in the ad. "This is about the livelihood of our kids and grandkids."

"Jeb Bush will be a very inspirational commander-in-chief. He represents the beliefs of this country."

Since the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, Bush rolled out his defense policy proposals and labeled the fight against the Islamic State the "war of our time" in a speech at the Citadel, a military college in South Carolina. Bush has embraced discussion of his hawkish foreign policy positions often associated with his famous family, which he had previously approached much more gingerly.
