Cantor Looks Forward to Resolution on Debt
With the next set of debt talks coming up Tuesday at the Capitol with Vice President Biden, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., says he is "looking forward toward increasing the momentum toward a resolution."
Cantor is also very complimentary of Biden's approach to the talks, adding that the success of the talks so far is due to the vice president and the way he runs these meetings. Biden, he says, has been open to considering all ideas.
"He does like to talk," Cantor said smiling. "I believe we are beginning to see the essence of a convergence on spending."
When asked if he thought there was a date the bill should be written by, Cantor said "It's about getting it right."
Without an agreement to raise the ceiling, the federal government could begin shutting down services trying to avoid default as it reaches its debt limit.
Cantor added that he wants to see only one debt ceiling vote.
