Big Apple: Rotten for Biden Travel?

Bad luck seems to follow Vice President Joe Biden when he's in the New York City area. And while the misfortune doesn't necessarily affect the vice president directly, it does create a bit of havoc in its wake.

During Wednesday's departure from the Francis S. Gabreski Airport, the 757 carrying the vice president delivered a jet wash that knocked an unoccupied smaller plane clear into the air. Air Force Two took off without incident, but the Piper Cub was left with damage to its left wing. The vice president was returning to Washington after a five-day vacation on Long Island. There were no injuries on the ground and those on board were apparently unaware of what happened.

And just a week ago, two New York City police motorcycles were involved in a minor accident while escorting the vice president to Kennedy airport after a private meeting at Gracie Mansion with Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Could the verbally prone vice president also be accident prone? Or it could just be the Big Apple taking a bite out of Joe. Last November while driving to a taping of Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show", a police car assisting the vice president's motorcade collided with a livery cab at a Manhattan intersection. Two police officers and the driver of the livery cab were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

But whatever it is, one should be forewarned when traveling in the same area as Vice President Biden and his vehicle entourage.
