Biden Praises Bipartisan Pursuit of bin Laden

Vice President Biden praised the successful mission resulting in the killing of Usama bin Laden and the ability of those in the know to keep the developments mum in his first public remarks on the issue Tuesday night.

Speaking at the Atlantic Council's 50th Anniversary Awards Dinner, Biden said he was impressed by the ability of the 16 members of Congress who had been briefed on the plans to keep that information secret, noting there was "not a single, solitary" leak.

He called those involved in carrying out the mission "great professionals" and said the world is a safer place with bin Laden gone not only for the American people, but for all people.

Mr. Biden was in the situation room with President Obama and his national security staff Sunday monitoring the real-time developments of the operation.

While recognizing that the pain of September 11th victims might be rekindled with talk of bin Laden's death, Biden said the killing of the mastermind behind those attacks reveals a clear message to the world, "There's no place you can hide."

He said from one administration to the next, whether you're a Democrat or a Republican, when the U.S. decides on a goal, it will be relentlessly be pursued until the end.
