Ben Carson will be on Capitol Hill Wednesday for a meeting with Republican members of Congress hosted by Rep. Steve King of Iowa.
Carson, a Republican presidential candidate and retired pediatric neurosurgeon, has been invited to discuss revelations that Planned Parenthood has sold fetal organs from aborted fetuses. The information, revealed in secretly recorded videos with Planned Parenthood officials, has sparked a renewed effort among Republicans in Congress to end federal funding for the pro-choice advocacy organization, which also operates family planning clinics where abortions are performed.
The meeting with Carson is set for 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Capitol Hill Club, just down the street from the Capitol. Per the invitation from King's Conservative Opportunity Society that was emailed to members' offices last week, no congressional staff is permitted to attend.
