Carrie Underwood took home the top honor at the 2020 CMT Music Awards, winning video of the year for her song, "Drinking Alone." 

"Wow fans you guys never cease to amaze me at how hard you work," she said while appearing remotely via video chat Wednesday evening. 

"This one is really all about you guys, especially because we again haven't been together," she added, referencing the coronavirus pandemic. "Thank you so much!

Keith Urban and first-time nominee and country icon, Tanya Tucker, who picked up her first-ever Grammy Awards this year, were also finalists for the accolade.

Underwood, who already had the most CMT Music Awards of any artist, also won early for female video of the year for "Drinking Alone." "I don't deserve you," the 37-year-old said while thanking her fans.

Prior to that, to kick off the evening, Brooks & Dunn and Luke Combs took the stage in Nashville to perform their song, "1, 2 Many."

During their performance, Combs, who was nominated for three awards, took a moment to shotgun a beverage. 

Co-hosts Kane BrownAshley McBryde and "Modern Family" alum Sarah Hyland then appeared to discuss what was ahead of the fan-voted show, which was shot in various outdoor locations around Nashville, Tenn., including the former home of Reba McEntire.

Dan + Shay took home the first accolade of the evening for duo of the year for their song, "I Should Probably Go To Bed."

Shay Mooney gave a shout out remotely to his toddler son, Asher, while accepting the nod. “He’s watching right now. So you do need to go to bed for sure right now,” he joked.

Meanwhile, Luke Bryan won male video of the year for “One Margarita."

Sam Hunt and Maren Morris also performed their hits "Hard To Forget" and "To Hell & Back," respectively. The show, which normally highlights cross-genre collaborations, also included performances with Jimmie Allen and Noah Cyrus, as well as, Kelsea Ballerini with Halsey.

The award show is normally held in the summer but was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. It featured a new category, quarantine video of the year, that highlights country artists who got creative with music videos and songs during the pandemic. The social-only award went to Granger Smith for his song, "DON’T COUGH ON ME!"

Also new this year is the CMT equal play award, which was presented to singer, actor and activist Jennifer Nettles, for her work advocating for women and diversity in country music.

“Thank you to all the fans and especially my artists, my sisters out there who continue to burn the holy fire," said Nettles. "I am so proud to be a part of this legacy of women in country music with you. And I am so proud of the stories that we tell. We have more to do as soon as we can.”

Other winners Wednesday evening included Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, who took home the nod for collaborative video of the year for  "Nobody But You" and breakthrough video of the year went to Gabby Barrett's "I Hope."

The show closed out with a performance by Little Big Town.
