“Whether interpreted as a print, worn all over, topping off an outfit, or intricately placed in panels and insets, lace is now the must-have fabric for 2014,” says Lizzy Bowring, fashion director at Stylesight. “New non-traditional interpretations have emerged (on the runways). Some rigid, others more tightly woven with metallic for a modern geometric look.”
“On the flipside, lace can be discreetly feminine and grown up or provocative and sexy," Bowring adds. "Other laces are seen as lightweight and sheer, resembling slips of lingerie."

Whether you want to feel like a model or just want to add some oomph to your overall personal style, lace is one of the easiest and sexiest fabrics to wear — if done correctly.

Summer styling can be a tough one, especially when you work in an aggressively air-conditioned office and don’t just frolic around festivals or spend three months stringing one fabulous vacation into the next.
The glossies and resort collections constantly assault you with glorious sundresses and printed micro-shorts, but you’ve gotta roll out of bed into a real life that looks a lot different. Well here’s the cold, hard truth: we don’t shop every day, either. What we really do is pick a few solid items that’ll carry us through all season and — gasp, the horror — maybe even beyond.

This isn’t to say that we didn’t appreciate Ms. Linda Lovelace’s Givenchy Resort 2014 look, but considering she’s the film’s star, it was a bit humdrum.
On the other end of spectrum was Joan Smalls, who has officially beat out an Olympian and procured this season’s coveted tile of best crop top abs. Her Helmut Lang asymmetrical bra top paired with printed bright yellow Altuzarra high-waisted skirt showed off a midriff that literally has us sucking in behind our desk.

Lou Reed makes his appearance in crooked glasses and a murse, but lest you doubt the logic in his attendance, the Deep Throat biopic opens with his 1972 song, “Take a Walk on the Wild Side,” which, if you’re familiar with the lyrics, is not only suitable, but just kind of brilliant.
View the entire red carpet below, which also features appearances from a leather-clad Zosia Mamet, Zac Posen, and Derek Jeter’s rumored beau Hannah Davis:
