Suspect: Too drunk to remember night of Seattle mom's murder
37-year-old John Charlton is being held on $2 million bail while police investigate the grisly death of 40-year-old Ingrid Lyne
Police on Friday may have found more remains of a Washington state mother of three who was killed and dismembered after going on a date to a Mariners game.
Local media report the remains were discovered in a container in the Seattle area near where body parts, including a head, were dumped in a recycling bin nearly a week ago.
Police at the scene would not immediately confirm if the remains were those of Ingrid Lyne but said they were investigating a “possible connection,” Q13 Fox Seattle reported.
John Charlton, 37, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of the 40-year-old nurse. He was arrested Monday in Snohomish County, north of Seattle.
Charlton told police he was so drunk the night he’s accused of killing Lyne that he slept on a sidewalk. But police say after the two attended a Mariners game Friday and then went to a bar, Charlton apparently killed and cut up Lyne’s body in her own Renton bathroom. Then he dumped her body parts in a recycling bin in Seattle, using her car to transport her remains, investigators add.
A homeowner found the remains.
Charlton is in jail on $2 million bail and faces at least 28 years in prison if convicted.
Gordon Hill, Charlton's public defender, has said no forensic evidence links Charlton to the crime.
Charlton has a criminal history and his parents took out a restraining order against him in 2006, Fox 13 reported.
