Stephanie March is devastated by allegations that she is behind stories circulating about her estranged husband, celebrity chef Bobby Flay.

The couple separated last month and it quickly became contentious with reports that Flay had had an affair with an assistant.

"Stephanie is terribly upset by what she has been reading in the paper," the Law & Order: SVU actress's lawyer Deborah Lans told People in a statement.

"I would say that what Bobby's lawyer and his friends are saying is a combination of speculation and projection on their part," she adds.

A rep for Flay previously told People: "We will continue to refrain from responding to the continued efforts by certain parties to spread rumors and innuendo."

"This specific allegation was in a letter sent from one attorney in this case to the other," the rep continued. "It was written and then leaked specifically to try to insert this story into the press, and that's unfortunate. Even more unfortunate is that all of this is being done in order to renegotiate a prenuptial agreement that was agreed to over a decade ago and never amended during the marriage."

March has reportedly recently undergone surgery and is living with her cancer-stricken mother while she recuperates as well as, “coping with all the recent revelations,” added her lawyer.

The 40-year-old actress is also disputing the couple's prenuptial agreement, which was signed three days before their wedding.

"I'm confident a court will consider the agreement to be unconscionable," Lans says. "Stephanie hopes people will respect her privacy and be sophisticated enough to read through what's coming from the other side."
