“The Voice” is getting ready for some hip-shaking Colombian swag!
The singing competition will be revamping its third season and swapping its current Latina judge Christina Aguilera for the sultry "Hips Don't Lie" singer Shakira, NBC announced on Monday.
Like Aguilera, fellow judge Cee Lo Green is also leaving the show and will be replaced by heartthrob and pop star Usher.
Entertainment site GossipCop.com says that Aguilera is taking a break from “The Voice” to focus on her upcoming tour and new album release “Lotus.”
Green, on the other hand, will be taking some time to work off-camera as an executive producer in a new comedy based on his ex-wife and children.
NBC said that while Aguilera and Green are taking a break, they are both expected to return to “The Voice” for its fourth season.
The news about Aguilera’s temporary departure from “The Voice” comes just as the singer was honored at the 2012 Alma Awards on Sunday for her philanthropic initiatives and achievements throughout her professional singing career.
Aguilera received the Special Achievement Award and was the center of attention as she walked the red carpet donning a tight-fitting black dress.
“It’s a huge honor,” Aguilera told reporters on the red carpet. “Having gone to Haiti and Guatemala with the World Food program and seeing firsthand how your voice can make a difference means a lot to me.”
“It’s important to know that I’ve gotten to use my voice in all capacities, and it’s most important for me to be able to use my voice for good.”
