Looks like "Saturday Night Live" has a new movie star to brag about.
Kristen Wiig's gross-out chick flick "Bridesmaids" raked in $24.6 million over the weekend, putting it at #2, behind "Thor," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While it wasn't #1, it was a very strong opening for a film starring an ensemble cast of female actors, scoring almost $10 million more than expected.
"Bridesmaids," co-written by Wiig and produced by Judd Apatow of "Knocked Up" fame, is a chick flick at heart -- but it features at least one very, very disgusting scene that tends to be the boys' territory.
While Melissa McCarthy of "Mike and Molly" fame steals every scene she's in, Wiig brings it all together, serving as the heart of the film and stealing a bit from some of the "SNL" skits that have made her famous.
