THE HAGUE, Netherlands – The United States is redoubling efforts to pressure Russia out of its aggressive pose, cutting it off from a major coalition of leading industrial nations. But Moscow shrugged off the effort to isolate it, and Russia's annexation of Crimea appeared to be getting harder to reverse.
The United States, France, Canada, Britain, Germany, Italy and Japan canceled a summer summit in Russia and effectively excluded Russia from what had been an exclusive, two-decade-old coalition known as the Group of Eight.
Still, the international gestures got a dismissive reaction from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who called the G-8 an informal club.
Amid the increased pressure, Ukraine signaled it was ceding to Russia's aggressive tactics by ordering its troops out of the disputed Crimean Peninsula.
