Authorities in Puerto Rico have seized 431 illegal gambling machines in raids on several businesses across the U.S. territory.

Justice Secretary Cesar Miranda says Thursday's crackdown follows an undercover investigation that began in April 2013.

He blames the availability of illegal gambling machines for causing six legal casinos in Puerto Rico to close since 2009, resulting in a $6 million drop in government revenue.

Miranda estimates there are more than 45,000 illegal gambling machines operating on the island.
