OKKAN, Myanmar – Police in Myanmar say hundreds of people have rampaged through a central town in the country's latest outbreak of anti-Muslim violence.
A regional police chief, Win Naing, says the mobs destroyed two mosques and injured 10 people on Tuesday in Okkan, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) north of Yangon, Myanmar's commercial capital.
Win Naing says mobs also set fires in similar unrest in three Muslim villages nearby.
There were no immediate reports of deaths in the unrest.
Stopping the spread of anti-Muslim violence that rocked central Myanmar last month and western Rakhine state last year is a serious challenge for President Thein Sein's government, which has been accused of doing too little to stop the unrest from spreading.
