Mali's interim president has announced a new government just over a month after soldiers toppled the country's democratically elected president.

Dioncounda Traore named 24 ministers on Wednesday. No ministers from the former government are part of the new team. Three posts in the new ministry — defense, internal security and the interior ministry — are now held by military officers.

It is not known how long the ministers will serve or when elections will be held.

Traore became interim president after the junta was pressured by the West African regional bloc to sign an accord that was supposed to pave the way to full civilian rule. But junta leader Capt. Amadou Sanogo says his group will continue to play a supervisory role until new elections can be held.
