Six Chinese soldiers played "hot potato" with live explosives during an exhibition drill in Hong Kong last month, according to a video aired on Chinese Central Television.
The Telegraph reports that the exercise was staged during an exhibition drill as the island's chief executive, Sir Donald Tsang, inspected the troops. During a series of exercises, the special forces carried heavy logs, leapt through rings of fire and rode motorcycles at high speeds.
But the "most exciting and thrilling part," according to Chinese Central Television (CCTV), which broadcast highlights of the exhibition, was the game of hot potato involving explosives.
The tasks were designed to improve "psychological strength" and to forge "fighting spirit" by completing the "near-impossible tasks," the People’s Liberation Army said.
CCTV said the exercise would help the soldiers remain calm if they were confronted with a real emergency, the Telegraph reports.
