Padres give P Richard one-year deal

San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres have signed left-handed year contract.

Richard went 5-9 with a 3.88 ERA in 18 starts last year before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery in late July.

Since joining the Padres in 2009, the 28-year-old has gone 24-20 with a 3.84 ERA over 63 starts.

Richard has gone 30-28 with a 4.20 ERA in 102 career games (85 starts) with the White Sox (2008-09) and Padres (2009-11).
