Turin, Italy – Juventus midfielder Simone Pepe could be out for the remainder of the season as he sustained yet another setback in his recovery from a thigh injury.
The 29-year-old suffered the original injury in a preseason friendly, but has managed to play just 20 minutes in Serie A this term after numerous setbacks have kept him on the sidelines.
"I have had four relapses in the same area, so after careful consideration we have decided that I will undergo an operation to get back playing as soon as possible," said Pepe.
No timetable has been set for Pepe's return, but it seems unlikely that he will feature for the Old Lady again this season.
Last term, Pepe scored six goals in 31 league matches as Juventus won the Scudetto.
