Second-seeded Jelena Jankovic and third- seeded Roberta Vinci were among the second-round winners Tuesday at the $220,000 Texas Open, a final U.S. Open tune-up.

Serbia's Jankovic, a former world No. 1, took out Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 on the hardcourts at Hilton Lakes Tennis & Sports Club.

Vinci of Italy had little trouble in a 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Polona Hercog from Slovakia, but fourth-seeded Belgian Yanina Wickmayers suffered a defeat at the hands of Australian Casey Dellacqua 6-4, 6-3.

Sixth-seeded Shuai Peng of China was a straight-set winner over Frenchwoman Pauline Parmentier 6-4, 6-2, as was seventh-seeded Russian Chanelle Scheepers, who took a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win over Marina Erakovic of New Zeleand.

Sorana Cirstea of Romania, the No. 8 seed, defeated Alize Cornet of France 6-1, 7-5.

In unseeded play, Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak took a 6-2, 6-2 win over compatriot Eugenie Bouchard, and Serbian Bojana Jovanovski defeated Croatian Mirjana Lucic 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

The 2012 Texas Open champ will earn $37,000.
