Herring takes pole for Iowa Nationwide race

Drew Herring claimed his first pole in the Nationwide Series after winning Saturday's qualifying for the U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway.

Herring made a lap around this 0.875-mile oval at 135.367 mph for his maiden pole in just his 11th Nationwide start. He is driving the No. 54 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing in this race. Kyle Busch has driven that car to eight wins in the series this season, including a victory one week ago at Indianapolis. Busch is concentrating on his Sprint Cup Series efforts this weekend at Pocono.

Regan Smith qualified second, while rookie Alex Bowman took the third spot. Brian Scott and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top-five. Keselowski is the only Sprint Cup regular competing in this event.
