Dost brace helps Heerenveen bounce back
Doetinchem, Netherlands – Bas Dost continued his goal- 0 victory over De Graafschap on Saturday and help his club bounce back from a humiliating defeat its last time out.
Heerenveen suffered a 5-1 loss to PSV in its last league outing, but Dost's two-goal effort Saturday sees the club jump ahead of Vitesse and Feyenoord in the Eredivisie table and into fifth place with 31 points.
The 22-year-old opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 12th minute before wrapping up the affair in the 78th minute. His brace was even more impressive given the sending off Daryl Janmaat in the 40th minute as the Dutch defender forced his side to play down a man for more than half of the match.
Dost leads the Dutch top flight in scoring with 16 goals.
De Graafschap suffers its fourth-straight league loss and remains in the relegation zone on 12 points.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Twente easily dispatched of RKC Waalwijk at De Grolsch Veste as a brace from Luuk de Jong helped the home side earn a 5-0 victory, while Excelsior climbed out of the Eredivisie cellar, defeating nine-man NAC 3-0.
In Friday's lone Eredivisie match, Charlton Vicento and Sanharib Malki both recorded a brace as Den Haag and Roda played to a 3-3 draw.
