The Cleveland Browns have interviewed St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur for their coaching position.

Shurmur met Friday with Browns president Mike Holmgren, who fired Eric Mangini on Monday after a second straight losing season. The first candidate in for a formal interview, Shurmur, 45, is appealing because of his work with St. Louis rookie quarterback Sam Bradford. The Browns want to further develop rookie Colt McCoy for the future.

Shurmur and Holmgren are both represented by the same agent, Bob LaMonte.

Holmgren and general manager Tom Heckert will interview Atlanta offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey on Saturday. The Browns have also asked permission to speak with New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.
