Lake Buena Vista, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Braves agreed to terms with pitcher Ervin Santana on a one-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.
The Braves are dealing with injuries to starters Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy. Medlen may need season-ending surgery after being diagnosed with an injured ligament in his pitching elbow, while Beachy left Monday's start against the Phillies after only two innings due to tightness around his right elbow and biceps muscle.
Santana rejuvenated his career last year as he went 9-10 with a 3.24 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 32 starts with the Royals.
The right-hander played for the Angels from 2005-2012 before being traded to Kansas City in October of 2012. Santana is 105-90 with a 4.19 ERA in 268 career games (265 starts).
