Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Atletico Madrid continued its outstanding start to the La Liga season on Sunday after cruising to a comfortable 2-0 result over 10-man Athletic Bilbao at the Vicente Calderon.

Coming off a 2-1 win over Granada on Thursday, the hosts opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when former Barcelona man David Villa found the back of the net.

Four minutes prior to the intermission, Atletico doubled its advantage when Diego Costa fired home his 13th goal of the season.

After the break, things became more difficult for Bilbao when Erik Moran was sent off 11 minutes from time, reducing the visitors to 10 men. Following the red card, Bilbao wasn't able to break down the Madrid defense and the hosts claimed three points.

The result pulls Atletico within one point of league-leaders Barcelona with 33 points, while Bilbao remains in fifth place on 20 points.

Valencia 1, Getafe 0

Getafe, Spain - Dorlan Pabon's first-half tally was enough to lift Valencia to a 1-0 victory over Getafe on Sunday at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

After suffering a 2-1 defeat to newcomers Almeria during the week, Valencia came out with plenty of energy on Sunday and claimed their reward five minutes before the break when Pabon found the back of the net.

Getafe never threatened Valencia's goal in the second half as the hosts held on to take an important three points.

Granada 1, Levante 0

Valencia, Spain - Piti's stoppage-time tally was the difference on Sunday as Granada edged Levante by a 1-0 count at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Levante had a golden opportunity to open the scoring on 25 minutes when Nabil El Zhar stepped to the spot for a penalty kick. He ripped a right-footed strike, but it didn't fool Granada goalkeeper Roberto, who easily kept it out.

Levante would rue their missed opportunity as Granada grabbed the winner in the final moments as Piti smashed a shot into the top right corner to give the points to his club.

Malaga 3, Real Betis 2

Malaga, Spain - Samuel scored in stoppage time on Sunday as Malaga earned a 3-2 victory over Real Betis at the Estadio La Rosaleda.

The hosts opened the scoring just 13 minutes in through a goal from Roque Santa Cruz, but Verdu answered for Betis in the 33rd minute to put the sides back on level terms at the break.

Malaga snagged the lead back just past the hour mark via a goal from Eliseu, but just two minutes later, Jordi Montel scored for Betis to make it 2-2.

Just when it looked like the sides would settle for a draw, Samuel bagged the decisive goal in the third minute of stoppage time to hand full points to Malaga.
