The Oakland Athletics placed outfielder Josh Reddick on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a sprained right wrist.

Reddick, who missed time earlier this season with the same ailment, aggravated the injury while swinging at a pitch in the sixth inning of Sunday's 10-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.

The 26-year-old right fielder has batted .213 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI over 97 games this season.

The A's selected the contract of first baseman Daric Barton from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Reddick on the roster.

Barton has appeared in eight games with the A's this season, hitting .143 with one homer and three RBI.

Also on Monday, Oakland designated pitcher Pat Neshek for assignment and recalled pitcher Evan Scribner from Sacramento.

Over 41 appearances with the A's this season, Neshek pitched to a 2-1 record and a 3.58 earned run average.

Scribner has posted a 5.03 ERA over 13 games with Oakland this year.
