Television commercials are going to the dogs! Nestle Purina is releasing what it says is the first television commercial designed to appeal to man’s best friend.

This is a big deal for Nestle. The company’s animal behavior experts at its Technology Center in St. Joseph, Mo., helped develop the commercial aimed at selling Beneful dog food.

The experts developed a combination of sounds that attract a dog’s attention like the squeaky sound of a dog toy and a bell. Nestle says the sounds should not distract from the real purpose, and that’s for pet owners to want to go out and buy the dog food for their pets.

The ad will be shown in Austria.

Should the dog commercials work, cats may be the next target group.
