Retirement rumors continue to swirl for New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski as he talks about the pains of the game
New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski spoke to reporters about the pains of taking hits all year round, leaving some to wonder if the tight end will retire.
WWE’s Lio Rush appeared to take shots at recently retired New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski during “Monday Night Raw.”
Rush was smack-talking Finn Balor when he made the mention to the future Hall of Famer. The event just so happened to be held in Boston, whose hometown team is the Patriots fans, the Boston Globe reported.
“You should have just quit while you were ahead,” Rush told Balor. “You really should have. Now you’re going to be forced to leave the game as a beaten, broken, hot piece of garbage like Rob Gronkowski.”

The crowd at TD Garden immediately began to boo at the comment.
WWE wrestler Mojo Rawley told TMZ that it “wouldn’t surprise me” if Gronkowski, a friend of his, decided to trade in his helmet for the ring.
“That wouldn’t surprise me one bit,” he said. “He’s always been a wrestling fan. I know WrestleMania [33], he was all excited about it, we still joke around about it, we’re still really proud of that moment. So yeah, man, in the future I’m sure at some point you’ll see him inside the WWE ring at one capacity or another.”

Gronkowski announced his retirement Sunday in an Instagram post. While with the Patriots, the team made at the AFC Championship in each of Gronkowski’s last eight seasons with the team and reached five Super Bowls, winning three of them. During his career, Gronkowski was plagued by a number of injuries that sidelined him for approximately a season-and-a-half.
