Alison Sweeney, a 38-year-old mother of two and ex-host of “The Biggest Loser,” isn’t afraid to take a few risks.

Sweeney told FOX411 she has been trying to impress upon her kids the importance of taking chances.

“The most important advice I can give them is the advice I’m trying to take myself right now, which is just to take risks and be OK with change and be willing to take a chance and to believe in yourself… That’s where I am right now in my life and my career right now.”

Sweeney stars in a Hallmark Channel movie “Love on the Air,” and she recently announced a partnership with Sleep Number.

“I took this huge risk earlier this year and ultimately it was because I decided to believe in myself and that I am going be OK, and I am going to contribute really wonderful and creative things to my career right now and make awesome movies for people that they are going to love to watch and they will want more of them, and I hope I set a great example for my kids that they would be willing to take risks too.”

Though Sweeny, who previously spent 21 years on “Days of our Lives,” has come a long way from her soap opera days, she continues to live by the acting and life lessons she learned on the show.

“There are so many great lessons I learned working there about how to pick your battles, memorize a lot of dialogue, how to create a character that people root for.”

Recently, Sweeney announced she was leaving “The Biggest Loser.” Trainer Bob Harper is taking her place as host. She told us she hopes the show will stay true to its purpose.

“I hope that they stay true to what it’s all about which is helping contestants get healthy and change their lives,” she said. “That’s the part that I think is most important and such a valuable contribution to society in needing to have these tough talks about what’s wrong—where this obesity epidemic is headed and what can we do to make changes as individuals and keep ourselves and our families healthy.”

The actress said she has no doubt Harper will succeed in his new role as host.

“Oh he’s a passionate guy I know he always has been so he’s not changing anytime soon!”
