Long gone are the days of "radiant orchid," the lightish purple hue chosen as Pantone's hottest color of 2014. For 2015, it’s all about marsala, a rich, robust shade that’s flattering on nearly everyone and already heating up the red carpet.
“Much like the fortified wine that gives marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness,” explains Lee Eiseman, executive director of the PANTONE Color Institute in a press release. “This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”
“Flattering against many skin tones, sultry and subtle marsala is a great ‘go-to’ color for beauty, providing enormous highlight for the cheek, and a captivating pop of color for nails, shadows, lips, and hair,” adds Eisemen.

Blonde bombshell Carrie Underwood, who is expecting her first child with Canadian professional ice hockey player Mike Fisher, is not afraid to admit she has a DIY approach to beauty. Unlike most superstars, the 31-year-old expecting mother happens to be her own hairstylist and makeup artist while on the road.
“I do my own hair and makeup when I’m touring, and that’s something I always loved,” says Underwood to InStyle. “It’s quiet on my bus, and being able to put on my makeup and do my hair is almost therapeutic. I know that sounds kind of weird, but it really is! I love makeup, and I like the time I get to spend doing it, so it’s nice to get that time for myself to play with new things.”
And although the “American Idol” winner is famous for her signature smoky eye, Underwood tells the magazine she prefers to keep her beauty routine simpler at home.

“Sometimes when I come off the road, I’m like ‘Whoa, whoa girl. Easy on the eyeliner,’ because I get so used to seeing myself wearing more onstage,” says Underwood.
And how does the singer maintain her flawless features? With the help of coconut oil, which she credits as one of her beauty product must-haves.
“It’s really hydrating on my skin, and I drink a ton of water to help with that as well,” says Underwood. “I feel like those help the base. If you take good care of your body and good care of your skin, your makeup is going to look that much better.”

PHOTOS: Kate Middleton Dazzles in Body-Hugging Lace
Opting to give her latest maternity wear some playful flair, mother-to-be Kate Middleton attended the Place2Be Wellbeing in Schools Awards ceremony in London wearing an unusual, head-turning outfit.
The 32-year-old Duchess of Cambridge, who is expecting her second child, covered her baby bump in stylish separates, including a sheer polka-dot peplum top by Hobbs and a metallic blue skirt by favorite designer Jenny Packham. Middleton completed the look with a gold-buckled belt to cinch her waist, matching gold chandelier earrings and black heels.
And of course, she put her perfect mane in a partial updo to showcase her flawless features.
“As the Royal Patron of Place2Be, Middleton was on hand at the organization’s first awards ceremony to meet the young finalists for the Child Champion Award,” reports US Weekly. “She later presented the award to a young person who has overcome his or her own struggles to help others.”

This probably won’t be the last time Middleton will stir headlines just for her personal style. She, along with husband Prince William, are expected to make their first-ever trip to New York City in the second week of December — where Kate is sure to display more of her fashionable maternity wear. The couple is also expected to attend events supporting their beloved charities.
