Man accused of punching child for not getting ready for church quickly enough

A man in Florida faces charges including battery after investigators say he punched a child in the face because the child was too slow to get ready for church on Sunday.

The child wears an ankle brace and had trouble putting shoes on, WKMG reports.

Angel Rivera, 49, reportedly went after the child who had tried running into a room and closing the door. After the door him in the face, Rivera went into the room and punched the child, according to WKMG.

Deputies said the child was bleeding with a black eye, and was ultimately taken to the hospital. Investigators did not reveal the child's age.

Rivera was taken to the Orange County jail and booked Sunday night.
