HELSINKI (AP) — The American Embassy in Helsinki says U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has canceled a scheduled visit to Finland because of flight restrictions caused by the volcanic ash cloud.

U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Anne Laanti says the announcement of the cancellation came from Washington but that no further details were immediately available.

Clinton was scheduled to meet with Finnish leaders in Helsinki on Wednesday before attending a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Estonia on Thursday.

It was not clear if the cancellation would affect her attendance at the two-day NATO meeting.
