A teenage boy has filed a formal complaint against a Hurst, Texas police officer, claiming he assaulted him.
A friend shared a cell phone video of the arrest and police have now released a video of their own.
Andrew Rodriguez said officer Disraeli Arnold assaulted him after he and three friends were stopped by police at a park on Nov. 20. The 17-year-old had outstanding warrants for trespassing and disorderly conduct.
The police dashboard camera was pointed away from the action, but the audio tells the story. It confirms officer Arnold was irate, but also suggests Rodriguez was confrontational.
Things started going downhill when the teen pulled out his cell phone and refused to listen to the arresting officer's orders to put it away. After a verbal exchange, police said Rodriguez pushed the officer, who called for backup.
That's when officer Arnold arrived. The audio from the police video mirrors what's on the YouTube video, including the officer's temper and foul language.
And as the teen is loaded into a patrol car, neither's behavior improved.
Hurst police have not defended officer Arnold's behavior. He's been placed on administrative leave while an internal investigation is conducted.
Rodriguez is out of jail on bond.
