JERUSALEM – The family of a slain American activist has asked Israel's Supreme Court to overturn a ruling clearing the military of wrongdoing in her death more than a decade ago.
Rachel Corrie was crushed to death while attempting to block an Israeli military bulldozer she believed was razing a home in the southern Gaza Strip.
The family is challenging the 2012 ruling of a lower court, which supported the Israeli military's conclusion that the bulldozer operator could not have seen Corrie at the time of the incident. The army said the bulldozer was heavily armored and the driver's vision was limited.
After Wednesday's hearing, the Supreme Court is expected to take months before issuing its ruling.
Israeli legal experts say it is unlikely the case will be overturned.
